Children's Home in Sevskoje, (formerly Zeleznodoroznije - our latest project - since November 2008:

This facility is currently home to around 58 children who are, or were, infected with TB or had contact with TB-infected people. These children, for whom accommodation in the home is arranged by the State, come from socially disadvantaged families.

The building originally housed approximately 100 children, however, the number of inhabitants had to be reduced due to the delapidated state of the structure. In the interim, the children have been moved to a converted school building in Sevskoje.

At the initiation of this project , we purchased winter boots and jackets to meet the most pressing needs of the children
(€1.600,--). The parents are expected to purchase such items, however, due to low income they are either not in a position to or, in some cases, are simply unwilling to do so. Very often, children come back from holidays with their parents without the clothes they took with them. They are kept for other children or sold in order get some money. This poses additional budget problems for the home.
