Facility in Gusev - Home for 50 babies and infants

This home receives support from projekt Anna since November 2007. We were first made aware of this facility by a family from Cologne, whose adopted child previously lived here.

In the meanwhile, in addition to the sorely needed clothing and shoes for the children, we purchased medical devices for this facility, required for the disabled children who are inhabitants of the home. The medical equipment procured includes, for example, a monitor for observing children who may be at risk of sudden infant death.

As part of individual case support, we absorbed the cost for the escorts for two children with Down syndrome who had to travel to Moscow for heart surgery. Without our support, neither of the children would have received the vital operation and medical treatment. The younger of the two children, Sergej, born in September 2008 - who had been abandoned by his mother at the maternity hospital - was operated on during the early part of March 2009.

Restoration of the facade and complete renovation of the kitchen is urgently needed at this home. The renovation is further complicated by the fact that the home must be constantly in operation to ensure accommodation and care for all 50 children around the clock.
