Children's Home in Pravdinsk Since 2005, 50 orphans receive care in this home supported by projekt Anna.
Since the onset of our co-operation, the children are provided with daily necessities, such as school supplies, educational toys, spectacles, shoes and clothing. To ensure care tailored to the individual needs, we purchase the requisite items locally. Moreover, we purchase gifts for the children at Christmas or, alternatively, finance an outing to Kaliningrad. In 2007/2008 we made arrangements for a short vacation in Poland for 18 children and 3 accompanying carers.
In addition to the above, we financed renovations to the playground.
projekt Anna plans to absorb the cost for the equipment for, and the conversion of, a training kitchen and a sewing room.
Structural Improvements:
Windows and Doors Installation of a heat meter
Other Improvements:
Flooring Washing machine Wooden bunk beds Kitchen stove Crockery School supplies
The home is not insured in view of the fact that the responsible authority cannot afford the cost of the insurance coverage. We plan to examine the actual bids received from insurance companies and then consider whether to assume the cost of the insurance policy (approximately 750,-- annually).
In November 2006 we purchased firewood (app. 100,--) needed during the winter by a 17-year-old young woman (formerly a resident at the home in Pravdinsk) and her small child, as they would otherwise not have been able to heat their rooms. At that time, the Kaliningrad region was already in the grips of extreme cold and heavy snowfall. |
