About projekt Anna "We were able to adopt one child but were forced to leave many others behind were the words spoken by the founders of the association, Juliane and Wolfgang Staltmaier, after their visit to an orphanage in Novostrojevo, Kaliningrad. Their adopted daughter Anna has settled well into her new family in Munich. Like Anna, many children in Russian orphanages wish to be part of a family, or at least yearn for improvement to their living environment.
The conditions in Anna's former orphanage were devastating. A musty smell - caused by damp walls - permeated the home; throughout the building floor coverings were either loose or disintegrating and, everywhere, bare shelves - intended for toys.
Touched by these impressions, Juliane and Wolfgang Staltmaier took the initiative to establish the association "projekt Anna Waisenhäuser Kaliningrad e.V.", named after their daughter Anna. In the interim, the association has been renamed "projekt-Anna Kinderhilfe Kaliningrad e.V." This change was made to facilitate a greater range of alternatives for providing aid for children in need. |
